About The Team
Learning & Development Director
I wanted to share with you all, a little information about my career background.
Before joining Phoenix Learning Ltd, I had a 15-year career in the education sector as a Secondary Teacher and Department Head of History. I studied for my degree and PGCE a little later than normal, in my late 30’s and entered a profession I had aspired to for many years. During the years in the education sector, I had the privilege in teaching additional subjects such as Religious Studies and Psychology.
Prior to my teaching career, I worked in the Shipping Insurance industry for 18 years, beginning as an office junior and progressing to senior Re-insurance Administrator. Also, during this time my husband and I owned and managed small businesses in the hospitality sector for example, bars and restaurants.
Learning & Development Manager
Just a quick introduction from myself – I’m Jonny, The Learning & Development Manager at Phoenix Learning. My career has had a few different avenues that all work together in my role here. I have 3.5 years' experience teaching in a secondary school as a cover supervisor - I taught every subject going and loved every minute!
Alongside this – I have been working in radio broadcasting for the last 5 years. I’ve been a radio presenter, producer and trainer at a local student & community station that broadcasts across the northeast. If you ask nicely, I might tell you when and where to listen!
My main area of expertise is in hospitality management, where I started out at the age of 16. With my most recent position being duty manager in a high-end hotel chain, previous to this I have held assistant and general manager positions across the hospitality industry.
These positions have allowed me to fine tune my skills in training and development, preparing me for my new challenge here at Phoenix Learning as your Learning & Development Manager.
Just a little bit about me, I’m Amy and I am the Administrative Assistant at Phoenix Learning.
I have recently graduated from the University of Liverpool, with a degree in Modern European Languages, which comprised of French, Italian and Spanish. My degree included a year abroad, which unfortunately was cut short due to Covid, I luckily had a semester in Spain at the University of Alicante but had to leave Italy after three short weeks.
I support the local community by volunteering with FoodCycle every week to deliver hot meals to those in need.
My previous work experience has been in the hospitality industry and various work placements in schools, both in England and in France. So I am excited to start my new adventure at Phoenix Learning.
